March 28, 2017, St. Louis, Missouri…VisionServe Alliance is celebrating 30 years of incorporation in 2017. Originally named the National Council of Private Agencies for the Blind and Visually Impaired (more commonly known as NCPABVI), the non-profit was incorporated in Washington D.C. in 1987. The original founders were a group of eight executive leaders who met July 17, 1979 in Oklahoma City motivated by the desire to "form an organization to speak for the interests of the private sector." August 15, 2013, St. Louis, Missouri…The non-profit VisionServe Alliance, whose executive members directly represent every aspect of services to people who are blind or visually impaired, has awarded academic scholarships to students at Salus University, Western Michigan University, and University of Massachusetts-Boston to pursue Master’s level degrees in vision rehabilitation and teaching of the visually impaired.
