In 2017, the Board designated and approved 4 new Associate categories. These new categories are designed to expand the reach of VisionServe Alliance by offering opportunities to affiliated non-profits, for-profit businesses, and individuals–including those working in the blindness and visual impairment field, retirees and students.

Nonprofit Associate

Nonprofit Associates are non-voting and must be an organization that does not provide direct services, education, or employment to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.  Examples include but are not limited to eye banks, national associations, academic institutions, or research entities.

Requirements to be a Nonprofit Associate:

  • Must be an organization or professional providing non-direct services, education, or employment to organizations or individuals in the blindness/low vision industry.
  • Non-voting status

Nonprofit Associate Benefits:

For-Profit Associate

For-Profit Associates are non-voting and include for-profit companies and individual practitioners. Examples include but are not limited to companies that specialize in technology, pharmaceutical, goods and services, law, advocacy, financial and investment advisers, manufacturers, vendors, etc.

Requirements to be a For-Profit Associate:

  • Must be a company, individual practitioner, consultant, or other professionals.

For-Profit Associate Benefits:

  • Networking one-on-one with top leaders in blindness and low vison
  • Sponsorship of one conference annually
  • Nationwide collaborative opportunities
  • Preferred vendor status in members-only section of website
  • Name/website listed in VisionServe website

Individual Associates are non-voting and include those retired from a voting member organization, currently working in blindness/low vision, and not in a leadership position at an organization serving the blind.

Requirements to be an Individual Associate:

  • Retired from a voting member organization
  • Currently working in blindness/low vision, and not in a leadership position at an organization serving the blind

Individual Associate Benefits:

  • Individuals – Free Subscription to quarterly LINKS newsletter, opportunity to attend Fall conference & receive CEU credits, and participation in online learning opportunities

Student Associates

Student Associates are non-voting and must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or college, and pursuing a degree in vision rehabilitation, TVI, O&M, OT, OD; or a student in nonprofit management, public policy, or business with an intent to work in the nonprofit community.

Requirements to be Student Associate:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university or college.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in vision rehabilitation, TVI, O&M, OT or low vision; or a student in nonprofit management, public policy, or business with an intent to work in the nonprofit community.

Student Associate Benefits:
