Access To Quality Services Committee

This committee addresses the need to include aging and vision loss in degree programs for those entering the fields of gerontology, occupational therapy, and other related training programs in fields that serve older people. It also addresses the need to recruit individuals to the aging and vision loss field as more senior professionals depart, widening the gap in available trained personnel.

Data and Research Committee

Advocating for the inclusion of aging and vision loss in degree programs for those entering the fields of gerontology, occupational therapy, and other related areas that serve older people. This committee also addresses the need to recruit newcomers to the aging and vision loss field.

Policy and Funding Committee

Launched the ground-breaking Big Data Project industry reports identifying vision impairment and its factors at the state and county levels. Learn more and download a free National Report and published state reports. Added state reports will be published, with the goal of all providing these reports in 50 states. Data and Research’s Article and Data Repository identifies and shares pertinent research articles and quarterly webinars.

Public Awareness Committee

This Public Awareness Committee aims to reframe how Americans view vision loss by raising national awareness of the issues affecting adults with vision loss while also connecting those affected with vision rehabilitation and other services. In addition to increasing national awareness and facilitating strategic marketing alliances, this committee generates media articles, issues press releases, and disseminates key AVLNC initiatives, including the Big Data Project.

Join a VisionServe Alliance Committee

IDEAL Committee

Charged with identifying and cultivating best practices and resources for advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and cultural competency throughout the vision loss field.

Public Policy Committee

Advances VSA’s advocacy efforts in cooperation with members, other vision, allied health, education, and industry professionals and organizations to provide enhanced access for people with blindness and low vision.

Membership Committee

Annually reviews membership levels, dues, and benefits for Board recommendations and creates programs, services, recruitment strategies, and practices.

Conference Committee

Assists VSA staff in planning and producing successful and engaging conferences and events that are informative, relevant, and beneficial for all attendees.
