Audio Description: Literacy and Employment VSAELC2021

Joel Snyder, President, Audio Description Associates This presentation focuses on the fundamentals of audio description and their applicability to building literacy and employment. By using audio description, books and videos are made accessible to kids who have low vision or are blind and simultaneously all kids develop more sophisticated language skills. To the extent that audio description facilitates access to culture, people become more engaged with society and, it can be argued, more engaging individuals—thus, more employable.
