VisionServe Alliance Honors Dan Spoone with the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award – In Recognition of His Generous Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired

VisionServe Alliance is thrilled to honor Dan Spoone, Interim Executive Director and past President, American Council of the Blind for his exceptional leadership in the BVI field and for continually distinguishing himself through creativity, commitment, and dedication to improving the lives of the people with blindness and low vision.

“Dan is certainly a leader worth following. He is an exceptionally skilled leader of projects and people. We are inspired by his tremendous service to the field of blindness and low vision, and the scope of his previous work as an unpaid volunteer, donating endless hours of his time, talent, and energy to the people and causes nearest his heart,” said Lee Nasehi, President and CEO of VisionServe Alliance.

Prior to his current position as Interim Director for American Council for the Blind, Mr. Spoone spent 25 years at Seimans (formerly Westinghouse), where he advanced a broad range of domestic and international contracts and managed more than 100 associates. He engaged in advocacy with Florida Council of the Blind and volunteered to support the Greater Orlando Council of the Blind (GOCB) chapter – serving in roles as President, First Vice President, and Treasurer, and served on the Lighthouse Central Florida Board of Directors.

We extend our deepest gratitude for Dan Spoone’s unique leadership and inspirational pursuit to improve the lives of people with blindness and low vision.

Lifetime Achievement Award winners will be commemorated on Sunday evening, April 14th, during the Opening Ceremony of VisionServe Alliance’s Focused on the Future 2024 Leadership Conference in Kansas City, MO. Learn more about our Annual Awards and annual leadership conference.
