Leading with Clarity, Engaging with Empathy

VisionServe Alliance is honored to recognize Dr. Kara Crumbliss, Chief Compliance Officer and SVP of Clinical Services Enterprise of The Chicago Lighthouse, for her clinical excellence, administrative vision, and passionate commitment to improving the lives of people living with blindness and low vision.

The Roxann Mayros Organizational Champion Award recognizes a member of senior management whose cultivation of structure, systems, and best practices advances the efforts of an organization distinguishing itself in the field of blindness and low vision.

Dr. Crumbliss leads one of the country’s most respected and comprehensive low vision rehabilitation programs, serving more than 3,000 people annually. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a prolific contributor to research literature on blindness and low vision, an adjunct professor, and site supervisor of The Lighthouse’s residency program. Through her vision and tenacity, she has helped guide The Chicago Lighthouse through a period of transformational growth.

“Kara has played a key role in expanding and enhancing the already highly regarded services and products provided by The Chicago Lighthouse,” said Lee Nasehi, President and CEO of VisionServe Alliance. “As a leader, clinician, researcher, and administrator her goal remains doing what’s best for each client who walks through the doors of The Chicago Lighthouse. Her efforts benefit us all.”

We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Kara Crumbliss for her exemplary leadership and life-changing efforts on behalf of our field and the people we are proud to serve.

The Roxann Mayros Organizational Champion Awards will be commemorated during lunch on May 28, 2026, at the Envision and VisionServe Alliance 2026 Conference in Columbus, OH.
