Modern dry eye disease is everywhere. When severe, it significantly impacts activities of daily living and quality of life. It is also increasingly constraining vision care options and treatment adherence. In this course, we will examine what dry eye is, explore how it affects patients and how it is showing up in the low vision community. We will inventory current treatment options, identify unmet patient needs and do a deep dive in budget-friendly self- and home-care options for patients to manage symptoms. We end with a review of free resources for patient education and community support from nonprofit Dry Eye Foundation.
